Art itself, which produces representations, should in its own way always alter what is seen, produce displaced relationships, folds, regarding every idea immediately presented and crystallized which one wants to allude or refer to; regarding every idea as an original and pure block, always with the risk of negative and catastrophic effects.

With the term displacement both the internal nature and the function of representation is meant, both the style of the contemporary, or how the subject can be contemporary in its own time, of how the historical individual can interweave a relationship with their own present, a relationship which is always and however mediated.
