Making history or not through monuments?

History is another thing, it is the rigorous study of a historical event (and of its etiology) inserted in a specific epistemology. A monument, a symbol, can’t make history. It is not a historiographical essay. The monument, in the semantic indistinctness of the majority of our urban spaces, can however be the fold, the lag, that sends me back to the necessity to think about a historical event (or an idea). The monument can help to think, in the sense of acknowledging, a historical event. It writes it within everyday life. It ensures the conceivability. [...]
