Collective memory
Memories are different and individual, they don’t have to be shared, and they are preserved. The problem when talking about collective memory is taking the leap which allows personal memories to come together in that superior narration which is collective history, a container and by no means eliminator of memories. To achieve the latter concrete steps must be taken, it mustn’t be thought of in an abstract way, those who have the tools of criticism and historical research need to intervene. The political institutions must let this transition happen and not exploit it.
